Rep. Tom Suozzi said Gov. Kathy Hochul was untrustworthy and inexperienced, accusing the governor of fostering a “culture of corruption” while praising her disgraced predecessor, Andrew Cuomo.
Suozzi, one of Hochul’s opponents in the Democratic primary, slammed her for selecting ex-Lieutenant Gov. Brain Benjamin as her No. 2, despite finding multiple red flags during his vetting process.
“She picked a lieutenant governor who she knew, and who everybody knew had ethical problems, and she continued to defend him until he was arrested right under her nose,” he said during a Zoom press conference Tuesday.
“She doesn’t have the ethical standing to appoint a new lieutenant governor and she simply can’t be trusted,” the Long Island Democrat continued.
